SEOUL, May 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korean fashion platform Musinsa said Friday its offline store sales to foreign customers surged more than 30 percent during the early May "Golden Week" holiday period, driven by growing global interest in K-fashion.

According to Musinsa, sales from foreign customers at 12 globally tailored Musinsa Standard and Musinsa Store locations rose more than 30 percent during the April 29-May 5 period compared with the previous week, April 22-28.

The analysis covered stores in major shopping districts, including Seongsu, Hongdae, Myeong-dong, Gangnam and Hannam in Seoul, as well as Seomyeon in Busan.

Combined sales at the Musinsa Standard Seongsu branch and the Musinsa Store Seongsu select shop jumped 41 percent from a week earlier.

Foreign customers accounted for 53 percent of total sales at the 12 stores during the holiday period, surpassing domestic shoppers. At Musinsa Store Myeong-dong, foreigners made up 70 percent of total sales.

Musinsa said the strong performance reflected growing demand among overseas visitors seeking not only shopping opportunities but also firsthand experiences of Korean fashion trends and lifestyle culture.

"Global customers with strong interest in K-fashion and beauty flocked to Musinsa's offline stores during the overlapping holiday period in Korea, China and Japan," a Musinsa official said. "We will strengthen differentiated marketing and curation strategies that connect online and offline channels so foreign tourists can experience Korea's trendiest fashion culture through Musinsa."
