"Korea's Steven Allan Spielberg" Director Bae Chang-ho talked about how he feels about his debut 40th anniversary special exhibition held at the CGV Apgujeong branch in Seoul on September 15.
The special exhibition held to celebrate director Bae Chang-ho's 40th anniversary will be held from September 15 to 28 at CGV Yongsan, Apgujeong, Seomyeon, Daegu Academy, and Cheonan. They will be playing seven films, starting with director Bae Chang-ho's debut film "People of Kkobang Neighborhood" (1982) and continuing with "Whale Hunting" (1984), "Deep Blue Night" (1985), and more.
Director Bae Chang-ho said, "I decided to hold this special exhibition because I wanted to present my films to the audience in the cinema" and explained what made him decide to open the special exhibition. Following, he mentioned and thanked everyone he knew who came to the special exhibition by mentioning their relationship, including Kim Dong-ho, the former President of the Organizing Committee of the Busan International Film Festival.
Kim Dong-ho, the former president of the organizing committee said, "Director Bae Chang-ho is a box office director and at the same time an auteur who is the Korea's Representative Director and Korea's Spielberg," and added, "He turned 70 years old this year, and I hope he makes a lot of movies like directors Manuel de Oliveira and Jean-Luc Godar over the next 20 years," and wished him a long life and good health.

At the opening ceremony to celebrate Bae's 40th anniversary, director Lee Jang-ho, Jung Ji-young, and Kim Han-min, executive chairman of the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, and former Culture and Sports Minister Hwang Hee and Do Jong-hwan also attended the ceremony.
