SEOUL, September 14 (Yonhap) -- South Korean drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” which celebrated its finale successfully guarded its top place on the Netflix’s Top 10 TV (Non English) chart for seven consecutive weeks for its viewing hours.
According to the data provided by Netflix on Wednesday, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” topped the “Netflix Top 10” among non-English dramas on the second week of September by recording over 31 million hours of streaming.
Compared to the drama “Imperfect” which ranked third among English drama with total of 24 million hours of streaming, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” had significantly higher streaming hours.
This is the ninth time South Korean drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” has topped among other non-English dramas in streaming hours.
“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” which premiered on June 29 did not make it into the top 10 chart within the week of its initial release but by using word of mouth the drama started to trend. On the second week of its release “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” topped the chart and continued on with its position throughout the third week as well.
On the fourth week “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” was pushed down to second due to the Spanish drama “Alba” however, it reclaimed its position at the top of the chart on the fifth week and “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” continued on with its top position for seven consecutive weeks.
“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” staring actress Park Eun-bin features stories of protagonist Woo Young-woo, who is gifted with her talent but suffers from autism spectrum disorders. Throughout the series, the drama showcased heartwarming stories of Woo Young-woo and successfully concluded the series on August 18.
South Korean Netflix series “Narco-Saints” featuring actors Hwang Jung-min and Ha Jung-woo took the fifth place by scoring over 26 million hours of streaming.
According to the “Global Top 10” which shows weekly top 10 lists of the most watched TV and film on the second week of September, South Korean dramas “Young Lady and Gentleman,” “Alchemy of Souls” and “Little Women” successfully took the spot within the “Global Top 10” along with “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “Narco-Saints.”
