SEOUL, Dec. 23 (Yonhap) -- "It's hard to believe. Performing at Gocheok Sky Dome carries so much meaning." (Wonpil)
On Saturday evening, the sounds of Day6's hit song You Were Beautiful resonated through Gocheok Sky Dome in a winter-perfect orchestral arrangement. Accompanied by live strings, the band delivered a warm and cozy sound just days before Christmas.
Fans, collectively known as "My Day," filled the venue, waving phone flashlights to create a breathtaking sea of lights. This moment was part of The Present, Day6's special concert held over two days. Sungjin (guitar), Young K (bass), Wonpil (keyboard), and Dowoon (drums) reflected on their nine-year journey during the 3.5-hour event.
Young K shared his awe, saying, "Seeing this scene made it hard to focus on the songs. I couldn’t stop thinking about the fact that we were performing at Gocheok Sky Dome." He added, "I thought I could handle it calmly, but I was deeply moved. It's all thanks to you."

Day6, who debuted in 2015, saw a resurgence in popularity during a hiatus caused by members' military service. Songs like You Were Beautiful and Congratulations, released years earlier, climbed the charts again, sparking a renewed band craze in Korea.
In their ninth year, Day6 continued their success with new tracks like "Melt" and "HAPPY," dominating music charts and enjoying one of their best years yet. This momentum propelled them to become the first Korean band to headline a solo concert at Gocheok Sky Dome, which accommodates nearly 20,000 attendees per show. Selling out 38,000 seats across two nights, the band demonstrated their immense popularity.

Acknowledging fans, Young K said, "It’s so cold these days, and I know it’s hard to leave the house, but thank you for coming. Thanks to your effort, The Present could be held here. As I always say, you made this happen."
The concert began with the band, dressed in sleek black suits, taking the stage to perform Colors against a vibrant, immersive LED backdrop. The setlist included hits like Monster, HAPPY, Dance Dance, and I Would. Songs like You Were Beautiful and Congratulations were rearranged with orchestral accompaniments, offering a fresh take.
True to their "all-vocals" reputation, Young K's clear and understated voice, Wonpil's emotive tone, and Sungjin's husky vocals blended seamlessly, enhancing the songs' allure.
Having debuted with a solo concert in 2015 at a 1,000-seat venue, the band now filled a space nearly 19 times larger, making this performance even more significant.
Overwhelmed, Wonpil teared up during Congratulations and briefly left the stage. Upon returning, he apologized, saying, "I'm just so grateful we can perform on a stage like this with people we love." His heartfelt words felt like a handwritten letter to fans.
Young K echoed his sentiment, marveling at the continued love for their debut song and the chance to share it in such a grand setting.
When Day6 performed It Was a Happy Day, the screen displayed a montage of photos from their career, evoking nostalgia. During HAPPY, the members’ smiles never faded, perfectly matching the song's title.
The concert ended with encores, including Welcome to the Show and Melt. In the spirit of their hit song Time of Our Life, Day6 penned another unforgettable chapter of their vibrant youth with fans.
"Day6 has become a band that can perform at Gocheok Sky Dome after nine years. It’s not just us—it’s because of your support that we made it this far. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts." (Sungjin)
"Thank you for helping us move forward. This concert has added an unforgettable moment and another cherished memory. Performing at Gocheok Sky Dome—it’s incredible that such a day has come. Day6 will continue on!" (Wonpil)
