SEOUL, March 11 (Yonhap) -- The sudden passing of singer Wheesung on Monday has left the music industry in mourning. The K-pop star, whose real name is Choi Whee-sung, was aged 43.

The joint concert The Story, featuring Wheesung and KCM, which was scheduled to take place on upcoming Saturday at the EXCO Auditorium in Daegu, has been canceled.

A representative from KCM’s agency, A2Z Entertainment, expressed deep sorrow, stating that the concert’s organizers had officially informed them of the cancellation.

A former music industry colleague who had worked with Wheesung shared, “When we met late last year, he was actively discussing a new agency and was very determined to continue his career. He had also been losing weight in preparation for his performances. It’s heartbreaking and shocking.”

Just days before his passing, on March 6, Wheesung had posted on Instagram, saying, “Diet over, see you on March 15,” expressing his anticipation for the concert.
