SEOUL, August 18 (Yonhap) — "Our lives don't always flow like a hero movie. Park Dong-ha's not a superhero, but he's a character who acts with only one mindset to protect his family no matter what."

Actor Jung woo has introduced his character Park Dong-ha in Netflix's new series “A Model Family,” in a video interview on Wednesday,

“A Model Family” revolves around an ordinary man, Dong-ha Park, who becomes a drug carrier when he gets caught stealing a drug gang’s money.

Park Dong-ha devotes all of his time to become a professor, but he drinks a bitter cup everytime and fails to properly act as a father or husband to his family. While in a desperate situation to pay for the operation of his son suffering from heart disease, he discovers a car that has been in an accident, and the nightmare begins when he steals a bag of money from the car.

When asked how he felt about playing a father character, Jung woo said, "After becoming a father, it was very heartbreaking to play a situation like this,” adding, “It was sad to know that he committed such crimes for his family.”

Throughout the drama, Park Dong-ha is thrown into harsh situations such as digging the ground with bare hands to get rid of the body next to the bag of money, kidnapped by a drug gang, and buried in the ground.

Jung woo said he laughed when he first saw the script, thinking the filming would be easy.

He said, "The script only had text like 'buried' and 'run away', “ adding, “so I thought it would be easy. When I was running away with a money bag, I was out of breath because I had to act out the urgentness, and even if rocks fell on my face while being buried, I couldn’t turn my head and was hit.”

He also said, "I also ran before acting thinking if I overworked my body, the urgency would be better captured on the screen."

Jung-woo said he focused on the fact that Park Dong-ha is just an ordinary person and put emotions such as embarrassment in his cting.

The actor said, "Park Dong-ha is a character who does not speak his mind but rather endures it in his heart,” adding, “I thought it was more realistic to not suddenly have strength like a superhero because he is just an ordinary citizen who has only read books for the rest of his life."

He mentioned, “I lost 5 kg because I wanted to look a little skinnier and an ordinary head of household,” adding, “I also wore achromatic colors and made sure I did not wear too fancy.”

“A Model Family” ends with a scene that seems to predict the release of season 2. Regarding the possibility of appearing in season 2, Jung woo laughed and said, "Digging the ground again?"

He said, "I found it funny how all the endings from episode 1 to episode 10 had scenes that make people curious,” adding, “I am also curious about the after story.”
