Prosecutors to order high-risk stalkers to wear tracking devices before conviction
SEOUL, Jan. 11 (Yonhap) -- Stalking suspects with a high risk of second offenses can be ordered to wear an electronic tracking device before conviction as a revised bill to prevent revenge crimes against stalking victims is set to come into force later this week.
The Supreme Prosecutors Office on Thursday encouraged prosecutors to actively take advantage of the new law and seek to have high-risk suspects of stalking crimes wear an electronic tracking device as part of efforts to protect victims.
The measure will enable victims of stalking crimes to receive a notice in case the offender approaches them within a set distance and have the police swiftly deployed on the scene.
