Top court finalizes life sentence for woman over murder of husband in collusion with teenage son
DAEJEON, Dec. 14 (Yonhap) -- The Supreme Court finalized a life sentence for a woman on charges of murdering her husband in collusion with her teenage son, judicial officials said Thursday.
The 43-year-old was indicted on charges of stabbing her husband's heart with a syringe filled with antifreeze during his sleep and hitting him with a blunt weapon to death on Oct. 8 last year. The son also stabbed the victim with a knife multiple times.
The woman was also accused of injuring the husband by throwing a glass bottle at him after a dispute over their business failure, and stabbing the victim's eyes with a syringe filled with soju while he was asleep in September the same year.
The defendant claimed her husband often cursed and beat her after drinking, but digital forensic results by prosecutors revealed her husband was the subject of offense.
The investigation found that the woman committed the crime after holding a grudge against her husband over their poverty and for belittling her speech disorder.
