Hanwha Systems-military contract
Hanwha Systems wins 86.6 bln-won military satellite system maintenance deal
SEOUL, March 27 (Yonhap) -- Hanwha Systems Co., a defense electronics and ICT solutions unit under Hanwha Group, said Friday it has secured a contract worth 86.6 billion won (US$57.4 million) from the country's arms procurement agency to provide maintenance support for a military satellite communications system.
Under the performance-based logistics (PBL) deal signed with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, Hanwha Systems will support the operation and maintenance of the system capable of high-capacity data transmission through March 2031.
A PBL arrangement involves a contractor being responsible for maintaining equipment performance, such as the rate of operation and support timeline, and is paid based on how well those targets are met.
Hanwha Systems said it has developed and supplied key components in military satellite communication systems over the past two decades, including satellite terminals and network control units.
The company added its satellite modems are based on international standards while incorporating defense-specific technologies, including enhanced security features.
