NEW DELHI, April 20 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung on Monday paid tribute at a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, honoring one of India's most influential figures and pledging to carry forward his legacy by promoting global peace.

Lee visited Raj Ghat in New Delhi before holding summit talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the second day of his three-day state visit.

"Hoping Mahatma Gandhi's peaceful spirit to fill the world with peace, I will make joint efforts," Lee wrote in the guest book.

In a post on social media platform X earlier in the day, Lee expressed hope for developing mutually beneficial relations with India.

"If you look carefully, there are so many things that serve interests of both countries," he wrote. "Let's open a bright future with India, which loves peace and democracy."
