China resumes group tours to S. Korea

Chinese tourists on individual tours visit a duty-free shop in the city of Jeju on South Korea's largest island of the same name on Aug. 11, 2023. The previous day, China lifted a ban on group tours to South Korea, which had been halted six years ago due to the deployment in South Korea of the U.S. defense shield, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, which Beijing sees as a security threat.
