
Independence fighter from Japan enters veterans' facility
Oh Seong-gyu, who was the last surviving Korean independence fighter living in Japan, is welcomed as he enters a facility for veterans in Suwon, south of Seoul, on Aug. 31, 2023, after returning from Japan to permanently reside in his home country on Aug. 13. The 100-year-old Oh, born in 1923, took part in anti-Japanese movements in Manchuria during the colonial period and enlisted in the Korean Liberation Army based in Anhui, China. (Yonhap)
