DeepMind chief meets legendary Go player
Legendary Go player Lee Se-do, a special professor at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, receives a plaque of appreciation from Demis Hassabis, the co-founder and CEO of Google DeepMind and known as the architect behind the go-playing artificial intelligence system AlphaGo, as they meet during the Google for Korea 2026 event in Seoul on April 29, 2026. Hassabis has been in Seoul since April 27, marking his first trip to South Korea in 10 years, after AlphaGo beat Lee in a historic human-versus-machine match in 2016. (Yonhap)
