Late widow of Australian Korean War veteran laid to rest in S. Korea

Anthea (C, front), the only daughter of the late Australian Korean War veteran Charles Green, carries an urn containing the cremated remains of Olwyn Green, the veteran's late widow, to place it into his grave at the U.N. Memorial Cemetery in the southern port city of Busan on Sept. 21, 2023. Olwyn, who died in Australia in 2019 at the age of 96, had expressed a wish to be buried with her husband, who was laid to rest at the cemetery. Lt. Col. Green, who took part in the Korean War as the commander of the Royal Australian Regiment's 3rd Battalion in September 1950, was killed in November that year at the age of 30 due to a shrapnel wound in his stomach after shelling by enemy forces. Soldiers from Australia and 15 other nations fought for South Korea against invading North Korea under the U.N. flag during the 1950-53 conflict. (Yonhap)
