Key suspect in vote-buying scandal

Kang Rae-koo (C), an auditor of the state-run Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., is asked questions by reporters upon arrival at the Seoul Central District Court on April 21, 2023, to undergo a hearing on his arrest warrant in relation to an electoral bribery scandal involving the main opposition Democratic Party's race to elect its new leader in May 2021. Kang is suspected of having given money to dozens of DP lawmakers and representatives in exchange for their votes for runner Song Young-gil ahead of the election.
