Meeting on doctors' upcoming collective action
Prime Minister Han Duck-soo (4th from R) presides over a meeting at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters in Sejong, 113 kilometers south of Seoul, on March 13, 2024, to counter the potential collective resignation of medical professors, following an ongoing walkout nationwide, now in its third week, by more than 11,000 trainee doctors in protest against the government's plan to increase the number of medical students. On March 11, medical school professors at Seoul National University resolved to submit resignations en masse next week if the government fails to present "a reasonable breakthrough" in the prolonged walkout.
