LIG Nex1, Palantir partner for air defense, unmanned system solutions development

SEOUL, March 25 (Yonhap) -- LIG Nex1 Co., a South Korean precision-guided missiles and weapons manufacturer, said Wednesday it has partnered with U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) firm Palantir Technologies Inc. to jointly develop integrated air defense and unmanned system solutions.

Under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed Tuesday (U.S. time) in Palo Alto, California, LIG Nex1 plans to combine its expertise in missile system integration with Palantir's data-driven software solutions to strengthen research and development (R&D) capabilities for future battlefields.

In particular, the companies are exploring opportunities for joint projects to enhance defense solutions for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a company official said.

LIG Nex1 said the partnership is expected to contribute to enhancing defense capabilities not only in the UAE but also in other global export markets by enabling faster, more accurate and efficient responses across various operational scenarios.

"We hope that expanded cooperation with Palantir will further strengthen our national defense R&D capabilities and global competitiveness," Shin Ick-hyun, chief executive officer (CEO) of LIG Nex1, said.
