Calling for passage of pro-labor bill
Members from the country's two umbrella unions -- the Federation of Korean Trade Unions and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions -- hold a news conference in front of the National Assembly in Seoul on Aug. 22, 2023, calling for the parliament to pass a pro-labor bill during the ongoing extraordinary session. The controversial bill prohibits litigation by employers for damages and provisional seizures against unionized workers, making it difficult to file complaints against illegal strikes by their workers and exempts laborers from liability for participating in illegal strikes.
