SEOUL, June 21 (Yonhap) -- Recently, young rising actors in their 20s who frequently appear in various drama genres, such as romance, genre, and period dramas, are receiving high recognition for their works.

Among the stars, actor Song Kang (27) is the hottest young star in the drama industry with his unique and developing character.

Song Kang, who debuted in 2017 with the tvN drama "The Liar and His Lover," became a star at once after starring in Netflix dramas such as "Love Alarm" and "Sweet Home." The 27-year-old actor is also frequently called the "son of Netflix."

Some of the benefits Song Kang possesses is his soft, deer-like face and good physique. The actor has already received nearly 10 major advertisements alone this year, and is the desired model within the advertising industry.

In terms of acting, Kang has shown impressive growth throughout his work. Although his "visuals" were emphasized in Netflix dramas, he has developed significantly through tvN's "Navillera" whilst working with senior actor Park In-hwan. Song Kang is anticipated as an actor who will improve further in the future by appearing in multiple dramas.

Actor Lee Do-hyun, 26, boasts a completely different charm from Song Kang.

Lee debuted on tvN's "Prison Playbook" in 2017 but began to officially impress the audience in  the drama "Hotel Del Luna" in 2019. The actor played Go Chung-myung, a royal guard captain who falls in love with Jang Man-wol (played by IU), and received favorable reviews for his sad melodramatic performance and delivering various emotions through his eyes.

Last year, he was selected as the lead role in JTBC's drama "18 Again," proving his solid acting skills without being overshadowed by top actress Kim Ha-neul and actor Yoon Sang-hyun. In addition, Lee once again received positive responses for his role in Netflix's "Sweet Home" as he portrayed a completely different image from his previous characters.

However, Lee Do-hyun was at the peak of his career in 2021. Starring in KBS's "Youth of May," which is set in May 1980, Lee emerged as a "next-generation melodrama" actor with his sentimental eyes, and voice.

Kim Heon-sik, a pop culture critic, said, "Lee Do-hyun seems to be loved as a character with special charms, unlike the usual flowery and handsome styled actors."

Actress Go Min-si (26), who worked with Lee Do-hyun in "Youth of May," is also an actress who is loved for her unique traits and acting.

In 2017, the Go debuted in a web drama and began to draw attention from her role in the movie "The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion" and further increased her recognition with "Sweet Home" and "Youth of May." Especially in "Youth of May," Go tastefully carried out a retro sentiment in her role and left a deep impression through her ending performance.

The actress is expected to develop further in the future by showing her chameleon-like acting skills in various drama genres. Go will also appear in the movie "Smuggling" and tvN's action drama "Mount Jiri," and has also appeared in six main commercials this year.

Gong Hee-jung, a drama critic, said, "In the case of Go Min-si and Lee Do-hyun, they have a lot of potential to star in various works in the future with their top-notch acting skills.

Go Yoon-jung, 25, is also a new rising star in the Korean acting industry.

The actress made her debut in 2019 with tvN's drama "He Is Psychometric," and has been active in the entertainment world for three years. Go Yoon-jung made headlines last year when she appeared in singer Lee Seung-chul's music video with actor Park Bo-gum, as well as whilst working on Netflix's "The School Nurse Files" and "Sweet Home." This year, Go starred as Jeon Ye-seul, a victim of dating violence in the JTBC drama "Law School."

Jung Deok-hyun, a pop culture critic, said, "It is hard to say that young stars who stand out recently can act like veteran actors, and it is not easy to find their place within the industry after a short period of time, but they are certainly actors with outstanding potential."
