Korea Golf Association to Reward Olympic Gold Medalist 300 Million KRW

SEOUL, June 30 (Yonhap) -- The Korea Golf Association announced on the 30th (KST) that it will reward the professional golfer who wins the gold medal at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics 300 million KRW (about 260,000 USD).

The Association plans on giving 300 million KRW for the gold medalist, 150 million KRW for silver, and 100 million KRW for bronze at this year's games. The coaches of each winning golfer will also receive prize money: 50 million KRW for gold, 30 million KRW for silver, and 20 million KRW for bronze.

This is the same amount that was given at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.

Park In-bee, who won the women's gold medal back in 2016, received 300 million KRW in prize money and her coach Pak Se-ri received 50 million KRW as well.

The coaches for men's and women's golf in the Tokyo Olympics are Choi Kyung-Ju and Pak Se-ri. South Korean professional golfers Im Sung-jae and Kim Si-woo for men's golf; Ko Jin-young, Park In-bee, Kim Sei-young, and Kim Hyo-joo for women's golf have been finalized to represent Korea.
