SEOUL, Aug. 18 (Yonhap) -- A series of indie musicians who have released unique and original music will hold online and offline performances.
An online live performance of different indie bands will be held until November, announced Mapo Art Center on Wednesday.
This indie music concert is designed to revitalize the music industry, which has been affected by the novel coronavirus, and to provide performance opportunities to artists without agencies.
A total of eight teams performed between June and July, and four more performances are scheduled to be held from this month to November.
DongYan Gozupa, the only Korean traditional music fusion band, will be the first to perform on stage this month. DongYan Gozupa is a band consisting of percussion, bass, and Yanggeum, the only stringed instrument in Korean traditional music.
It is also the first time for DongYan Gozupa to be on stage since the release of its new single "Arcade" on Aug. 24.
On Sept. 17, band Macguffin, known to play trendy music, will be on stage, while singer-songwriter Jeon Yoo-dong also known as Cloud's Block will appear as a band on October 20 to present various music. Afterwards, rookie band, Touched, will perform on Nov. 12.
This series of indie music performances will be available to watch live on Mapo Art Center's YouTube and Naver TV channels.
Meanwhile, on Aug. 27 and 28, a joint concert, titled "Maponaru Surfing Club," of four musicians representing Hongdae and Busan, will be held at Veloso Hongdae.
According to Tuna Label, the organizers of the concert, "Maponaru Surfing Club" is a long-term project designed to interact with so-called "music gods" across the country, including Busan, through the waves of music in Maponaru.
Musical artists "Gong Joong Geu Neul," who were the nominees for the Korean Music Awards with their first album "Love Song," and Busan band "Hathaw9y," which is recently drawing attention from indie scenes, will perform on Aug. 27 as well.
On Aug. 28, CADEJO, a band which has excellently expressed the sentiment of soul music, and Busan band Platform Stereo, will appear onstage.
The concert will be sponsored by Munhwa Road Map as a project to revitalize Mapo's artistic hub.
