SEOUL, Dec. 22 (Yonhap) -- Taekwondo Center in Muju, North Jeolla Province, which was selected as one of the top 100 Korean tourism destinations for 2023-2024, is receiving attention as a filming location for dramas.
According to the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation on Thursday, filming teams for modern dramas, historical dramas, sports, and melodrama are visiting Taekwondo Center, which have modern buildings, traditional hanok, and natural environment combined on 2.1 million square meters of land.
The Taekwondo Center has a clean natural environment, T1 stadium which BTS visited in 2016, training rooms and conference rooms of various sizes, large-scale facilities, and office space.
There are also advancedfacilities such as a Taekwondo experience center using virtual and extended reality and a 200-meter-long Taekwondo complex experience facility Play One.
Production teams of historical drams are endlessly visiting Taekwonjeon and Myeongingwan, traditional hanok-style buildings.
This year, Tawondo center was utilized as training center in the 16th episode of tvN drama "Mental Coach Jegalgil," which features Taekwondo, ice skating, and sports human rights.
SBS drama is scheduled to do shooting at the center in the beginning of next year.
Oh Eung-hwan, chairman of the foundation, said, "The Taekwondo Center has a speciality which can contain both modern and traditional styles along with the charm of nature," adding, "Having been selected as one of the top 100 Korean tourism destinations, Taekwondo center will be seen more often in the future."
