SEOUL, June 10 (Yonhap) -- With the new album “Proof” of the group BTS unveiled, attention is focused on whether this album will be a new milestone in the journey of the seven members who have established themselves as world stars.

In the music industry, the album, which covers nine years of activities since its debut, had many positive reviews in that BTS showed the past, present, and future as a whole.

Kim Young-dae, a music critic, said in a phone call with Yonhap News on Saturday, that the anthology album “Proof” is an album that can only be done after a certain degree of career is completed from the artist's point of view."

Critic Kim explained, "It is an album that offers a panoramic view of BTS' music world, including new songs such as ‘Yet To Come’ and ‘Run BTS,’ as well as newly arranged songs and unreleased songs."

Chung Min-jae, a pop music critic, said, "If it had been a journey to the top, there would be a concern about how to proceed now, but it was a good plan for the group to organize it before at least once.”

Regarding "Yet to Come," Chung said, "It can reach not only Korean fans but also the public who do not know BTS well," adding, "It could be a good song in Korea following ‘Spring Day,’ which fans like."

Critics noted that member RM introduced it as a "special album that wraps up the first chapter of BTS.”

Kim Do-hun, a pop music critic, explained, "Since their debut, BTS has gone through a dramatic process so far that it has been called 'compressed rapid growth', and I can see that the group intends to take a breath at the top and move on to a new chapter."

Kim said, "The group BTS started with a small agency and became the best group in the world, and the country of Korea played a role in creating a K-pop kingdom."

"Now, rather than trying to 'prove' something, they will try to show my way as an artist," Kim added.

The music industry is paying attention to how BTS, with a global fandom, will perform with its new album.

BTS topped the U.S. Billboard's main album chart (Billboard 200) and single chart (Hot 100) with its best album "BE" and title song "Life Goes On" in 2020.

At that time, BTS also topped the Artist 100 chart, showing the artist's popularity and recognition, making it the only group to win these three charts at the same time.

Considering that "Dynamite," "Butter," and "Permission To Dance" have recently been hit one after another, many predict that it will not be difficult for the group to make it to the top.

Kim Jin-woo, a researcher at Gaon Chart, said, "Considering BTS's strong fandom, it is possible to reach the top of the Billboard main single and album charts at the same time," adding, "If you look at the recent trend, new fandom is steadily increasing."

However, some predict that it will not be easy to take power for a long time on the Hot 100 chart.

Unlike "Dynamite" and "Butter," which were English songs, "Yet to Come" has similar proportions of Korean and English lyrics. The song's atmosphere, which contains the feelings of the members looking back on their past activities, is also somewhat soft.

"I think it will be possible to have a so-called 'hot shot' which is reaching the top of the 'Hot 100' chart right after its release, but it may be difficult for a 'long-run' on the chart as it focuses more on domestic fans than overseas," critic Chung said.

BTS will perform its new song for the first time in front of fans on the 13th, the ninth anniversary of its debut.

The group will star in music shows such as Mnet's "M Countdown," KBS 2TV's "Music Bank," and SBS' "Inkigayo” for the first time in 2 years but according to the recent trend in the music industry, there are many observations that the period of activity will not be long.
