SEOUL, Aug. 2 (Yonhap) — A new song written and composed by Hallyu star actor and singer Jang Keun-suk has swept the Japanese music charts, proving his status as "Asia’s Prince."

Jang Keun-suk will release his new song "Amagoi" on Aug. 4 to mark his 34th birthday. The song topped Japan’s Line Music real-time chart and the daily chart after it was pre-released for streaming on July 28.

Jang also topped the local charts with his digital single "Star" and "Emotion," which were released in March and May respectively.

"Amagoi" captures the essence of city pop, which was a music genre enjoyed during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Jang Keun-suk thanked his fans for supporting "Emotion" when it was released. "I am able to release a single in August and September due to the huge support given to me.”

Jang Keun-suk will hold an online live performance called "2021 JKS Online Summer Live Geun-night" at 7 p.m. on Aug. 28 and will also release his new song "Day by Day" next month. Jang is also considering his next work to star in. All performance-related information can be found on the official website at https://www.princejks.com.
