SEOUL, Sept. 6 (Yonhap) -- The first girl group produced by star producer Teddy, known for creating hits for BIGBANG and BLACKPINK, has officially made its debut.

MEOVV, a five-member multinational group under The Black Label, was unveiled at an online showcase celebrating the release of their debut single, "MEOW," on the 6th.

"We aim to show powerful music with bold colors, but also reveal a cute and gentle side," said member Anna. The group explained that their name, MEOVV, reflects their duality, combining a chic, charismatic image with a playful, cat-like charm. Ella added that they stylized "MEOW" with "VV" for a visually interesting twist.

MEOVV consists of members Suin (Korea), Gawon (Korea/USA), Anna (Japan), Narin (Korea), and Ella (USA). The Black Label emphasized that they applied a distinct production approach, allowing each member to fully showcase their unique charms.

Gawon expressed her excitement, saying, "It's a dream come true to finally debut. We've worked tirelessly for this moment, and we're ready to show everything we've prepared as MEOVV." Their debut single, "MEOW," is characterized by its addictive melody, strong bass, and a sound that blends the members' distinctive voices.

Narin highlighted the importance of individuality in a K-pop girl group, noting that MEOVV aims to represent the 5th generation of K-pop with their unique personalities and fearless challenges.

Rosé from BLACKPINK, a senior artist in their agency, advised them to fully embrace their love for music, which resonated deeply with the group. "We’re truly happy to be working with such talented producers and members, and we’re ready to show our best," Narin concluded.
