SEOUL, Sept. 9 (Yonhap) -- K-pop sensation BTS' Japanese-language compilation album achieved an accumulation of one million points within Oricon's combined album ranking.

"BTS, The Best," the seven-piece band's album, ranked No. 8 with 6,909 points in the week of Aug. 30-Sept.5, according to Oricon's latest chart released on Thursday.

"BTS, The Best" ultimately became the first album for a foreign artist to score one million points on the chart and also the first among all albums released this year.

The combined albums ranking is a chart which ranks albums by adding up CD sales, digital download sales, and streaming numbers.

Shortly after its release, "BTS, The Best" also went straight atop of Oricon's weekly albums chart. The album sold 782,000 copies recording the largest amount of album sales in the first week of its release this year.

The album's cumulative sales volume is 957,000, and on the verge of reaching 1 million copies.

In addition, BTS' smash hit "Butter" topped the "Song of the Summer" chart released by Billboard on Thursday (local time).

Song of the Summer, which is a popular song chart released only by Billboard every summer from June to September, combines streaming, radio airplay, and music sales.

"Butter" was selected as the Song of the Summer 2021 after entering the Billboard 200 as No.1 on June 26 for 12 weeks.

The song also topped the Billboard's main singles chart, "Hot 100," extending the chart's No. 1 period to a total of 10 weeks.
