SEOUL, Mar. 15 (Yonhap) -- "The Peak of Revenge," "A solid script," “A dynamic production and great acting skills" (IMDb ratings)

Netflix's original series "The Glory" is also becoming a hot subject overseas.

"The Glory" has ranked No. 1 overall in English and non-English, TV and film categories, with Part 2 exceeding 120 million viewing hours as of March 6-12. It has ranked first in a total of 23 countries, including Korea, and ranked in the top 10 in 79 countries.

By the morning of Wednesday, 9,300 people have participated in the rating of "The Glory" on the U.S. criticism site IMDb.

The rating was 8 out of 10. Nearly 8 out of 10 gave high scores (8-10 points). The distribution of 10 points was 28.9%, 9 points 21.3%, and 8 points 27.2%.

It is notable that Part 2 has a higher rating than Part 1.

"The Glory" is a 16-part series divided into parts 1 and 2, and released Part 1 (1 to 8 episodes) in December last year and Part 2 (8 to 16 episodes) on the 10th of this month.

Part 1 captures the harsh violence suffered by Moon Dong-eun (played by Song Hye-kyo) during her school days and the process of drawing a blueprint for revenge one by one as an adult, and revenge begins in earnest in Part 2.

Part 1 of "The Glory," which started with a rating of 7.2 in the first episode, failed to exceed the 7-point range, but gradually rose, and eventually scored 9.1 points, the highest score in Part 2 at episode 15.

According to the rating, there were reactions such as "all actors showed the best performance and made each episode intense and thrilling," "I want to give a standing ovation to the writer," "It all unravels with probability even though there are many twists," and "A story that anyone can sympathize with if they have experienced school violence."

Rotten Tomatoes, another U.S. critical site, also has a high rating of “The Glory.”

The freshness index, which represents the ratings of media critics, is 100%, and the popcorn index, which represents the audience's ratings, is 97%.

Foreign media are also praising "The Glory," which contains a heavy message about school violence.

Time, a U.S. weekly magazine, commented, "’The Glory’ focuses on the mental pain that victims of school violence experience even after they become adults."

Forbes also praised Song Hye-kyo's subtle acting effectively expressed a character obsessed with revenge for the perpetrator in a review titled "Song Hye-kyo, leads the K-Revenge with 'The Glory'."

Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) commented, "Kim Eun-sook's elegant writing skills, which we can see through the series' fascinating mise-en-scene and Dong-eun’s lyrical narration, make the series better."

Its popularity in China is also rising. Currently, “The Glory” Part 2 has a rating of 9.3 points out of 10 on China's social media platform Douban, and the number of reviews has exceeded 140,000.

However, considering that Netflix is not officially serviced in China, it is highly likely that it was illegally watched, raising concerns about illegal distribution of content.

When Part 1 was released, it caused a big sensation in Thailand.

At that time, there was a hashtag movement called "Thai The Glory" on social media in Thailand. Along with the reviews with accusation, which confided in the experience of school violence, there were articles urging the truth to be found and reflected.
