Online Threats Against IVE’s Wonyoung Prompt Police Investigation, Personal Protection Request

SEOUL, May 9 (Yonhap) -- A post threatening the safety of Jang Wonyoung of K-pop girl group IVE has emerged in online spaces, prompting police investigation and measures for personal protection, her agency said. 

 

According to Starship Entertainment on the 9th, a post surfaced on an online community the previous day, containing threats against her safety, specifying the date and time of the alleged incident.

 

Starship stated, "The police have received reports regarding the mentioned post and have initiated an investigation into its author."

 

The firm requested swift investigation and personal protection for the artist (Jang Wonyoung). Starship emphasized their intention to take legal action as soon as the perpetrator's identity is revealed.

 

In efforts to ensure the safety of their artists, Starship mentioned strengthening the presence of professional security personnel and reassessing security measures for their movements, offices, and residences.

 

The company also highlighted its commitment to intensifying monitoring for any threats against their artists' safety, pledging to respond forcefully and legally upon discovery.

 

IVE recently released a new mini-album on the 29th of last month, actively promoting their title track 'HAEYA.'
