BTS and Coldplay reunite in New York ahead of releasing collaboration single 'My Universe'

SEOUL, Sept. 23 (Yonhap) -- K-pop superband BTS, who visited New York last Saturday to attend a United Nations event as a special presidential envoy, reunited with British rock band Coldplay, which worked with the K-pop act on an upcoming collaboration song "My Universe."

On Thursday, both BTS and Coldplay posted a photo taken with all the members together on their respective official social media accounts. The seven BTS members posed with Coldplay's vocalist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion, by putting their hands on each other's shoulders.

In particular, Martin and Berryman were seen wearing modernized hanbok clothing, which is said to have been prepared by BTS.

The septet and Coldplay are scheduled to drop their joint single "My Universe" at 1 p.m. on Friday (local time).

The collaboration between the two "superbands" BTS and Coldplay, who are known to sweep the pop music industry, instantly caused explosive responses from fans and the single physical CDs to be sold out as soon as it was released.

Before "My Universe," Martin previously worked with BTS in April. A video of Martin and BTS members singing "My Universe" together at HYBE, the entertainment company of BTS, was recently released on the official TikTok accounts of the two bands.

The fact that "My Universe" was produced by Swedish hit record producer Max Martin also drew attention. Max Martin rose to prominence after creating numerous world-class hits for Brittany Spears, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and Backstreet Boys.

Coldplay's record label, Warner Music Group, posted on its social media that the song and lyric video of "My Universe" will be released on Sept. 24, and a documentary titled "Inside My Universe" will be released on Sept. 26.
