SEOUL, May 19 (Yonhap) -- At the site of the 12th Gokseong International Rose Festival, resumed after three years, an event to find the golden rose (one pure gold), which was popular in 2019 will be held again.


Gokseong county, South Jeolla province announced on the 19th that “Finding the Lucky Gold Rose” event will be held in the Rose Festival that is opening from May 21st till June 6th.

"Finding the Lucky Gold Rose" is an event to find a single golden rose with a special mark among tens of thousands of roses.

Anyone who finds the golden rose can receive 1 pure gold on the spot.

The event will be held at the grass yard in Seomjingang Train Village. During the festival, it will be open twice a day (11 a.m. and 2 p.m.) on weekdays and 3 times a day (11 a.m., 2p.m., 4p.m.) on weekends and holidays.

While there is no age limit for participation, children under elementary school age must be accompanied by a guardian.

It is free to participate and there is no pre-registration or online application other than on-site registration.

"We are preparing other additional events for those who couldn't find the golden rose," said an official from Gokseong county. "I hope people will be able to enjoy the beautiful roses and also challenge to become the lucky one who gets to find the golden rose."
