SEOUL, Mar. 7 (Yonhap) -- The hosts of the 2016’s travel reality series “Carefree Travelers” – Kim Yong-man, Kim Sung-joo, Ahn Jung-hwan, and Jeong Hyeong-don – has reunited for the first time in seven years to go on a backpacking tour once again.
The hosts, who recently returned home after a safe trip to Paris, added zest to the online press conference of JTBC’s “Carefree Travelers Returns” on Tuesday with their ongoing witty banters.
The former soccer national player Ahn, who initially resisted going on a trip with them once again, said jestfully, “If we were given the chance to go on a trip by ourselves, I thought our friendship would shatter like a mirror. We ended up falling apart.”
He then added, “As we went on a backpacking trip, we were able to encounter every bit of each other’s personalities and emotions,” explaining, “It was challenging for us to prep up everything by ourselves from the beginning to the end of the trip.”
Ahn also playfully said, “Yong-man is an old man with a weak body, and Sung-joo cannot have his breakfast without soup. I was literally a slave who cooked and carried bags for them.”
The free travel of these four men, whose average age is 49 years, to Europe was not smooth at all: They not only lost their ways but also their cell phones and even missed a train. The four recalled that they fought all the way throughout their trip with the two Kims teaming up as the “Older brother team” against the “Younger brother team,” consisting of Ahn and Jeong.
Looking back, Jeong said with a smile, “Those two older brothers claim that backpacking made our trip even more memorable but we, younger brothers, would like to say that it is perfect for running good relationships.”
He then added, “Traveling is difficult for those who are younger unless we get rid of the Korean culture of hierarchy. I became determined not to age like them throughout this trip.”
Producer Kim Jin, who was in charge of delivering the forthcoming reality show, said, “They actually started fighting right from the very first day until the very last moment,” adding that the four different characters of these four hosts will be unveiled.
The exciting travel reality show will premiere at 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
