SEOUL, Sep. 7 (Yonhap) -- Kim Tae-ho PD (46), known as one of the top 2 variety show producers with CJ ENM's Na Young-seok in South Korea, has announced to leave MBC, his home ground for 20 years.

“Kim Tae-ho PD has showed his intention to resign,” said MBC Tuesday.

“He has made a large contribution to the growth of MBC variety programs producing ‘Infinite Challenge’ and ‘Hang Out with Yoo’ since his joining in January 2001. We deeply appreciate Kim PD’s devotion and efforts. We sincerely cheer for his plans for new challenges,” added MBC.

“I am leaving MBC but would love to join MBC’s variety shows in another relationship,” said the legendary producer through his soon-to-leave broadcaster.

Yet, he has not revealed specific plans after leaving the company such as whether to work for another place or as freelancer and what contents to produce.

“We will anticipate and be prepared for collaborations with Kim PD who is setting out to challenge of producing more diverse contents,” answered MBC.

Kim is to keep on producing for MBC until December this year. His colleagues will take over “Hang Out with Yoo,” which has been in Kim’s hands.

Graduator of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (currently School of Media and Communication) of Korea University, Kim became a star PD making a hit with “Infinite Challenge” starring Yu Jae-seok.

The star PD who led South Korea’s No.1 variety program for 13 years went overseas to study in March 2018 after the program finished its final episode.
In 2019 he came back to lead his 2nd days of glory starting with “Hang Out with Yoo” holding hands with Yu and producing various hit projects.

Kim who has worked as the head of the entertainment department at MBC, has denied several rumors of moving his job and decided to part with MBC in 20 years.
