SEOUL, Aug. 20 (Yonhap) -- "BLACKPINK: The Movie," a special movie released by K-pop queens BLACKPINK as part of its fifth debut anniversary, attracted nearly 500,000 viewers from all over the world.

The movie, which was released in more than 100 countries on Aug. 4, garnered nearly 500,000 viewers as of the previous day, according to distributor CJ 4DPlex and overseas distributor Trafalgar Releasing on Friday.

"BLACKPINK: The Movie" also racked up nearly five million dollars in sales revenue until the previous day, recording the highest sales among "Event Cinema" (a movie that showcase event-like contents such as concerts and operas) released this year. "BLACKPINK: The Movie" was released in Asia, Europe, North America and South America, attracting the largest cumulative audience in Mexico, U.S., Turkey, Brazil and Japan.

The feature film highlights the K-pop act's music career through showcasing live performances of BLACKPINK's online and offline concert, intense image cuts of the four members, and unreleased interviews.

The quartet's agency YG Entertainment said the movie was well-received since it provided viewers a sense of feeling like they are at a real-life concert.
