◇ From Im Chang-jung to Super Junior's Shindong, confirmed cases for COVID-19 continue in the music industry

Ballad singer Im Chang-jung tested positive for the coronavirus after eight days of his comeback to the music scene.

On Nov. 1, Im returned with his 17th regular album "Nothing Special With The Day" but had to rearrange his scheduled events due to contracting the virus.

Shindong, a member of popular K-pop group Super Junior, was also tested positive for COVID-19 after being classified as a close contact of a confirmed case and is currently undergoing self-quarantine.

"There was no contact with other Super Junior members, and we readjusted all schedules," Label SJ, the group's management agency, said.

The singer was jabbed with Johnson & Johnson's one-dose Janssen vaccine and was scheduled to get a booster shot next week, according to the agency.

◇ Marvel's 'Eternals' dominates S. Korean box office, garnering 2 million viewers

Marvel Studios' latest blockbuster "Eternals" continued to top South Korea's box office this week.

"Eternals" had reached the 1 million mark in attendance, four days after its release on Nov. 3, for an accumulated total of 1.614 million as of Nov. 7. The film later surpassed 2 million cumulative viewers on the morning of Nov. 12.

This record was achieved the quickest by "Eternals" in comparison to all local and foreign movies released in Korea this year..

Earlier, Marvel's "Black Widow," South Korea's most-viewed foreign film for this year to date, surpassed 2 million viewers on the twelfth day of its release while "Mogadishu" achieved the same amount on the seventeenth day.

Directed by Oscar-winning Chloe Zhao, "Eternals" tells the story of immortal superheroes who fight against their evil counterparts, the Deviants, to protect Earth after thousands of years of hiding. South Korean-born actor Ma Dong-seok, also known as Don Lee, stars in the film as one of the Eternals named Gilgamesh.

◇ Disney+ lands in S. Korea amid competition in video streaming market




Disney+, the flagship streaming service of U.S. media giant Walt Disney Co., landed in South Korea on Friday.

The service distributes various films and TV series from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star, showing their original content hits, like "Loki" and "The Mandalorian."

A spin-off of long-running South Korean television show "Running Man" is among the Korean originals to be released on the platform.

Disney+'s launch is expected to intensify the competition in the South Korean paid video streaming market led by Netflix. In addition, the streaming video service of tech giant Apple Inc., Apple TV + official began its service in Korea last week.

◇ Lee Ha-nee of 'One The Woman' confirmed to be dating non-celebrity boyfriend

Actress Lee Ha-nee has been confirmed to be dating a non-celebrity, according to her agency Saram Entertainment on Monday.

"Lee is in relationship with someone she met through an acquaintance. As her partner is not a public figure, we ask for no excessive interest in or exposing personal information of the person," the agency said.

Lee has successively played a dual-role in "One The Woman," which recently ended SBS TV's Friday-Saturday drama series. The last episode of the dark comedy drama recorded 17.8 percent in viewership, according to data provided by Nielsen Korea on Nov. 7.
