SEOUL, Apr. 26 (Yonhap) -- Nonsan City, South Chungcheong Province, announced on the 26th that the main scenes of the Apple TV+ series, "Pachinko" were filmed around Nonsan.
It has been told that the TV series was filmed at 5 sites including Sutangseokgyo Bridge in Seongdong-myeon, the 1950 studio set in Sunshine Land, drama set in Sunshine Studio, Honggyo-ri Village Hall in Ganggyeong-eup, and Ganggyeong Modern Culture History Street.
Additionally, the city explained that the scenes of the Great Kanto Earthquake, the downtown of Yeongdo and Osaka in the 1920s till the 1930s, the Japanese police station in the 1970s, and the slums of Tokyo in 1989 were all filmed in Nonsan.
"The city has been gaining attention once again after it was known as the filming site of the drama, Mr. Sunshine," an official from the city said. "We hope that many South Korean tourists, along with foreign tourists will visit the city more."
Pachinko depicts the tumultuous life of a Korean immigrant family living in Japan between the 1910s and the 1980s. It is currently gaining a lot of popularity all around the world, and is getting a lot of positive reviews.
