SEOUL, Apr. 4 (Yonhap) -- South Korean singer-turned-actress Uee will return to the small screens with Korea Broadcasting System’s upcoming Saturday-Sunday television series after four years.
She has been slated to take the lead role in the brand-new television series “Hyo-shim’s Independent Life” (literal translation), which will premiere in the second half of this year. The actress starred in KBS’ mega-hit weekend series “My One and Only,” aired in 2019 and gained huge popularity with an average national rating of nearly 50 percent.
Her forthcoming series will depict the life of Lee Hyo-shim, a good-natured and warm-hearted daughter who devoted her life to her family, finally living an independent life away from her family. Uee will suit up as Lee Hyo-shim, the third daughter who suddenly became responsible to make living for her entire family consisting of her mother, two older brothers, and a younger brother on behalf of her disappeared father.
Uee will play not only a daughter but also a health trainer at a fitness center in Gangnam. She outperformed in every physical activity since she was young, so she became a health trainer right after graduating from high school to take care of her family.
The production crew of this upcoming series said, “As Hyo-shim finally stops sacrificing herself for her family and begins to put herself first, she tries to live an independent life,” adding, “Our series will examine the true meaning of ‘hyo,’ the long-standing filial piety which has been reflected in Korean parenting, and how to love our family members more wisely and sensibly.”
This family television series will premiere right after the ongoing weekend series “The Real Has Come!” airs its finale.
