SEOUL October 04 (Yonhap) -- Exhibition of traditional Korean cultural asset bequeathed by former entrepreneur Lee Kun-hee will be held in Gwangju National Museum.
Special exhibition “A Collector’s Invitation” will be held starting on October 5, addressed Gwangju National Museum on Tuesday.
“A Collector’s Invitation” is a continuum of the special exhibition held in order to celebrate the one year anniversary of the donation made by Lee Kun-hee in April. “A Collector’s Invitation” will be the first place National Museum of Korea will be showcasing some of Lee Kun-hee’s bequeathed pieces under the custody of National Museum of Korea.
Upcoming exhibition is designed to provide visitors with an opportunity to take in the Korean traditional art through cultural assets.
“A collector’s Invitation” will be showcasing total of 271 different pieces including 62 brand new pieces that has not been introduced during the special exhibition held in National Museum of Korea.
Following the title of the exhibition “A collector’s Invitation” segments the exhibition by the collector’s taste and interest.
Within the segment of “Taste of Collector” visitors will be allowed to get a glimpse of the taste of the collector who cherished and appreciated various traditional cultural assets without any biases.
Celadon, former CEO of Samsung Lee Byung-chul liked, and Buncheong Flat Bottle, White Porcelain Jar and more which Lee Kun-hee loved will be showcased throughout the exhibition. Simple but elegant exterior features showcased by White Porcelain Moon Jar will also be exhibited throughout the “A Collector’s Invitation”
Never exhibited paintings from the early Choson Dynasty to modern era will also be exhibited throughout the collection.
Collection of Buddhist painting by Yi Sang-hwa also known as “Album Of Buddhist Painting” and numerous paintings representing the era will showcased.
Segment, “Collector’s viewpoint” will showcase numbers of cultural assets designated as national treasure and treasure.
“Inwang Jesaekdo (Scene of Inwangsan Mountain After Rain)” by Jeong Seon will only be available for viewing in October.
“White Porcelain Jar with Bamboo deign” which has been designated as the national treasure after Lee Kun-hee saw the true value within the jar is one of the pieces to see within the exhibition.
Exhibited objects related to Jeolla province also draw visitor’s attention.
Throughout the exhibition, Jeong Yak-yong’s diary from his banishment to South Jeolla province will be showcased in November and December.

Family of Lee Kun-hee donated over 23 thousand pieces of artwork and cultural assets after Lee Kun-hee passed away. Exhibition celebrating the anniversary of the donation was held from April to August at National Museum of Korea attracted over 230 thousand visitors.
