SEOUL, Oct. 22 (Yonhap) -- Boy band Seventeen has returned with “Attacca,” their 9th mini-album, and full of ambition aiming to smash-hit Billboard Main Chart, “Billboard 200.”
“When we listened to the album ourselves, we really thought, ‘This is it.’ We want to top-notch on Billboard 200,” said the band Friday morning on an online press conference.
“In this album, Seventeen has met ‘passion,’ and together, the two sing a passionate and forwarding love. It shows a flaming love for a single person,” said the band.
“Attacca” is a music term which means to “play without a pause” when a movement ends and the players have to carry onto the next.
It seems, after having already struck “million-seller” with their previous albums, “Your Choice” and “Heng:garæ,” the band will continue the streak without pause like their recent album’s title.
“Attacca” has reached 1.41 million pre-orders from Korea and overseas in just one day. The agency, Pledis Entertainment, is expecting a new album sales record.
“We know that Seventeen alone cannot release albums and set sales records. We once again sincerely appreciate the many who worked so hard for the album and our Carats (Seventeen’s fandom) who really give us the strength,” said the band’s leader S-Coups humbly.
The title song, “Rock with you” is a rock-based song that harmonizes with an intense synth sound and a guitar sound with “two-step” rhythm added. Seventeen has matched the song’s deep emotions with their uniquely powerful and non-stop performance.
They melted into their choreography an image of racing without stopping to take a breath that goes well with the clear and fast-tempo-ed rock music.
The album consist of 7 tracks including the band’s unit tracks, “PANG!,” “Imperfect love” and “I can’t run away.” In particular, it contains the band’s first English song, “2 MINUS 1.”
“The title song, ‘Rock with you’ is dope, and at the same time, delicate. We want to impress you that ‘Seventeen is capable of these kinds of music as well.’ I have pride in our music,” said one of their main vocals, Seung-kwan.
Earlier, in July, all 13 members of the band renewed their contracts with their current agency, Pledis Entertainment.
“Our agency has showed us their faith for a long time so we renewed our contracts. As they have taken great care of us, know well about us and as we believe that they will help us get to the future we want to reach, we have decided to stay in the same boat. There wasn’t even a second of hesitation,” answered the leader when they were asked about the renewal.
Meanwhile, the band will act as 11-members without their Chinese members, Jun and The8, for “Attacca”.
“Of course, it’s a shame that there are 2 members missing. But we are still in touch with Jun and The8. And we feel relieved as the two are actively working in China,” said Seung-kwan.
Seventeen will showcase their title track, “Rock with me” in America’s famous music program “MTV Fresh Out Live” at 5 p.m. (local time) Friday.
