SEOUL, Mar. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korean local cable channel JTBC will roll out the first episode of its new Saturday-Sunday television series “Dr. Cha Jung-suk” (literal title), starring actress Uhm Jung-hwa on Apr. 15.

The medical comedy series will follow the story of a housewife Cha, to whom family was everything she had, experiencing a near-death experience and challenging herself to achieve the dream of becoming a doctor that she once gave up for the sake of her family.

The upcoming television series sees Uhm as Cha, who encounters a dynamic turning point in her life as an ordinary housewife who pushes herself to fulfill her longtime dream.

Another veteran actor Kim Byung-chul, who is best known for his role in “Sky Castle,” will play Seo In-ho, Cha’s cold-hearted and sensitive husband who works as a chief surgeon at a university hospital. Seo is a perfectionist who seems to maintain his dignity and calmness 24/7 but is actually holding on to a shameless and appalling secret.

Actress Myung Se-bin is slated to appear as Choi Seung-hee, the daughter of a medical conglomerate owning 12 general hospitals nationwide and also the first love of Seo. She has lived a life that everyone dreams of, but after losing her first love to Cha, she wishes to live a life as ordinary as that of everyone else.

In the meantime, Min Woo-hyuk will appear as surgeon Roy Kim, who enjoys open relationships. He seems to be a heartthrob that everyone would fall in love with, but he actually neither opens up nor gives his full heart to anyone. However, Cha suddenly appears in his life, and he weirdly cannot stop thinking about her.

The teaser photo or videos of this forthcoming medical comedy series is yet to be unveiled.
