SEOUL, May 2 (Yonhap) -- The fantasy blockbuster movie “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” topped the weekend box office for 3 consecutive weeks.
According to the data from the Korean Film Council(KOFIC) on May 2, “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,” attracted 187,000 people(31.8% of sales) for the past three days on the weekend (Apr. 29 to May 1), and ranked No. 1 on the box office.
The movie reached 1.075 million cumulative viewers since it was released on Apr. 13, becoming the second movie released this year to surpass 1 million viewers.
The movie “I Want to Know Your Parents” which deals with school violence, ranked No. 2, attracting 159,000 viewers on the first weekend of its release.
The omniverse horror movie “Urban Myths,” starring many idol artists, ranked No. 3, attracting 42,000 viewers over the weekend. The movie, released on April 27, surpassed over 60,000 cumulative viewers.
“Toxic,” a film about the damage caused by the humidifier disinfectant disaster, ranked No. 4, and “Ancher,” led by Chun Woo-hee, was at No. 6, both rankings falling in the second week of its release.
"Spring Day," a comedy starring Son Hyun-joo, ranked No. 9, showing poor performance that barely exceeded 10,000 viewers on its first weekend.
The number of people who visited the theater on the second weekend after the social distancing rules were lifted, reached 589,000, up 130,000 from the previous week (456,000).
