SEOUL, October 3 (Yonhap) -- BLACKPINK Jennie's agency, YG Entertainment, has taken legal actions over the spread of private photos of Jennie and V of group BTS online.
BLACKPINK's agency YG Entertainment announced on Monday that they had requested a legal investigation last month for the initial leak of BLACKPINK Jennie's personal photos.
YG Entertainment said, "We have refrained from commenting and making an official announcement to minimize further harm," adding, "However, it was difficult to overlook the recent mass production of rumors, criticism, personal attacks, sexual harassment, and privacy violations."
It added, "We have also filed accusations against continuous posts of unidentified content or writing excessive malicious posts due to defamation under the Information and Communication Network Act, violations of illegal information distribution, and obscene use of communication media."
YG Entertainment made sure that the photos distributed online were released regardless of their opinions, and that sharing them leads to secondary victimization.
Jennie and V's romance rumors were made as there were people online saying that they had seen them in Jeju Island on May. However, their agencies didn't take any action.
Afterwards, private photos believed to be downloaded by hacking Jennie's cell phone have been widely spread, and it has been raising concerns among fans.
