SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Yonhap) -- Rising South Korean girl group aespa has sold more than 500,000 copies of its first mini-album "Savage" in just 15 days, its management agency SM Entertainment announced Thursday.
Released on Oct. 5, the album sold 513,292 copies as of yesterday, according to SM Entertainment's own tally.
"This is an unusual sales volume for rookie K-pop groups to achieve in their eleventh month of debut," SM Entertainment said.
The multinational group debuted at No. 20 on Billboard's main albums chart this week with "Savage," scoring the highest ranking among other K-pop girl groups. In addition, aespa succeeded in entering a total of 10 different charts on Billboard, including "Artist 100," "World Albums," "Independent Albums," and "Billboard Global 200."
On a TV music show, aespa showcased a rare situation as "Savage" competed with the group's previous hit single "Next Level" for first place.
