SEOUL, May 10 (Yonhap) -- The Cultural Heritage Administration Royal Palaces and Tombs Center, along with the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation, will be holding the Myohyeonrye (ceremony where the queen or crown prince attends Jongmyo Shrine where successive kings and queens of the Joseon Dynasty are enshrined) ceremony will be held at the Main Hall in Jongmyo from the 18th to the 22nd.


The Myohyeonrye, where people would gather around Jongmyo (a shrine housing the spirit tablets of the former kings and queens of the Joseon Dynasty) after the crown prince got married, was the only official ceremony in the Joseon Dynasty where women was able to participate.

"The Crown Princess' First Greetings," a play based on the records of the Myohyeonrye from the Veritable Records of the Joseon Dynasty will be prepared along with traditional cosmetics experience held at Akgongcheong Pavilion (Musicians' Pavilion).

This event was prepared as part of the Spring Royal Culture Festival. Reservations can be made at Interpark Ticket from 2 p.m. on the 10th. A peony sachet will also be given as a souvenir to those who make the reservation.
