SEOUL, Feb. 24 (Yonhap) -- A sandwich restaurant, which was founded by Koreans in New York in the 1980s and captivated the taste buds of locals for about 30 years, will also be established in Korea.

Lenwich Korea announced on Feb. 24 that it will open its first branch of Lenwich Korea at IFC Mall in Yeouido, Seoul, next month.

Lenwich, a sandwich shop, opened its first store in 1989 by 1.5 generation Korean immigrants Chu Sei-hoon and Chu Sei-bung, and more than 20 franchises have been established in New York so far.

The popular local menus, including “Pastrami Sandwich," "Chicken Avocado," and "Chimichurri Steak," will be introduced in Korea.

Starting with its first location in March, it plans to open 5 branches within this year.

Chu Sei-bung, the CEO of Lenwich Korea, said, “We have worked hard to introduce Lenwich to our home country for a long time, adding, "We want to introduce the culture of New York sandwich to Korean consumers with the best products."
