SEOUL, July 28 (Yonhap) -- Vocal group Vibe will start a music project that reinterprets their representative songs with voices of other artists ahead of their 20th debut anniversary.
MAJOR9, Vibe's agency, announced Wednesday that a remake of "Promise U," sung by girl group Mamamoo's Solar and Moonbyul, will be released as part of Vibe's "REVIBE" project.
Unlike the original song, the new version was reborn as house music comprised of reggae and member Solar and Moonbyul's delicate singing sounds.
"Promise U," which was listed in Vibe's first album "Afterglow," is a fast-tempo ballad song with added rap, and received a lot of love at the time of its release.
The album was a success as it included hit tracks such as the title song "Love Me Once Again" as well as "Wish It's Not The End," and "Hope," which helped promote the band.
Vibe, which debuted in 2002, includes member Ryu Jae-hyun, who stands out in writing lyrics and composing, and Yoon Min-soo with outstanding singing skills.
In the 2000s, the duo released several hit songs including, "For a Long Time," "Drinking," and "The Man, The Woman," and recently dropped "Call Me Back" and "Fall in Fall," which ranked at the top of the music charts.
