SEOUL, Feb. 21 (Yonhap) -- The Korean-American actress Catherine Haena Kim, who rose to stardom in 2019 with the TV series “Ballers” and “FBI,” has been garnering international attention for her lead role in the brand-new ABC drama “The Company You Keep.”

The 38-year-old actress plays Emma Hil, an undercover CIA agent, in this rom-com with thriller trappings. This Sunday television series, which features a steaming hot romance between Emma, who appears to be a part of a family that aspires to be the Asian American Kennedys, and the gifted con man Charlie Nicoletti, played by Milo Ventimiglia.

In particular, the drama has gone viral for redeveloping Korean national broadcaster KBS’ rom-com with a hint of political drama “My Fellow Citizen.” At that time, the 20th Century Studio signed a remake contract with the Korean-based television series, which was introduced to the U.S. market via a “K-Format Screening” event.

Born in Queens, New York, Kim is a proud daughter of immigrant parents who left their office jobs in Korea for their children. In regards to marking her very first series regular role, “I still cannot believe I get to play her,” Kim said earlier. “I have been calling this my dream.”
