SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Yonhap) -- Nearly 940,000 people around the world attended screenings of “BTS Movie Weeks,” a global theatrical event showcasing live concert films of K-pop supergroup BTS, the band’s agency BigHit Music said Thursday.

The event ran for about a month across 2,700 theaters in 83 countries, including South Korea, the United States, Mexico and the United Kingdom. All screenings were sing-along versions, allowing fans to wave their light sticks and sing together as they watched.

During “BTS Movie Weeks,” four concert films tracing the group’s musical journey were shown. They included BTS’ first concert at Olympic Park’s KSPO Dome in Seoul, their 2017 show marking their rise as global artists following their Billboard Music Awards win, their landmark solo concert at London’s Wembley Stadium — the first by a Korean artist — and their 2021 online fan meeting performance.

BigHit Music said the films were remastered in 4K ultra-high definition and 5.1 surround sound to recreate the immersive energy of a live concert, adding that the visuals and audio quality allowed audiences to experience the excitement and emotion of being at the venue.

BTS plans to release a new album and embark on a large-scale world tour in the spring. The members are currently focusing on new music and concert preparations.
