SEOUL, May 31 (Yonhap) -- Sejong National Arboretum announced that it will be holding the special exhibition, "Connecting Life" which displays aquatic plants to promote and conserve biodiversity at the training site in the arboretum from May 31st till the 30th of October.

This exhibition was made to promote the importance of species conservation by reproducing the natural habitat of aquatic plants including water lilies and carnivorous plants, which are endangered due to the destruction of habitats .

In this exhibition, one will be able to observe the carnivorous plants up close as it has made a large wetland of bonsai (5 x 3 m) using dead timber.

Dead timbers are expressed as a "tree of life" that provides a place for the endangered plants to grow.

The Victoria amazonica and the Victoria cruziana water lilies, which have the largest leaves in the world, with a leaf of a diameter up to 3m, will be exhibited allowing one to compare two rare types of water lilies at once.

"I hope this exhibition will allow people to understand the importance of biodiversity and conservation while also feeling the preciousness of life," Lee Yoo-mi, director of the National Sejong Arboretum said. "We'll be preparing various exhibitions with plants so that people could heal through it."
