SEOUL, August 29 (Yonhap) -- " I saw an article about 47 criminals from the Philippines getting
repatriated, the actual case ended with them being sent to a jail in Korea. However, I thought about how much more fun the story would be if this was not the end but just the beginning, and that is how I started the movie. "
Director Kim Hong-sun, director of the movie "Project Wolf Hunting," said at the movie premier held at CGV in Yongsan on Monday, "I wanted to try out a new genre of movie, which is raw and brand new."
"Project Wolf Hunting" is a survival action movie which is about deporting criminals to Korea in the Convoy Frontier Titan who took off to a South East Asian country. The criminals and the detective get into a fight as the criminals try to escape from the convoy and also try run off with it.
Korean actor Seo In-guk will play Park Jong-du, who leads the criminals and the first degree murder wanted, Jang Dong-yoon will be playing Lee Do-il , a criminal with a calm personality who is only thinking about a way to go back to Korea.
Ko Chang-seok will be playing Go Gun-bae, Park Jong-du's right-hand man who participates in the convoy takeover plan, and Jang Young-nam plays Choi Myung-joo, the queen of the Titan and a wanted criminal for committing a homicide, and she joins a gang of criminals.
Actor Sung Dong-il will be playing Oh Dae-woong, the head of the maritime special rescue team, and Park Ho-san as Lee Seok-woo, the head of the field-responsible criminal team. Jung So-min plays Lee Da-yeon, a homicide detective in charge of female criminals.
Seo In-guk said, "This is a character, I really wanted to give it a try" and added, "I am quite young among the criminals in the movie. I reminded myself while acting that I have to be more brutal as I am the leader of the group, and I also buffed to look bigger."
Regarding the character Park Jong-doo, director Kim said, "He is absolutely evil and a character I don't want to associate with in my daily life," adding, "Actor Seo In-guk expressed the character in a very attractive manner and I thought it was a rediscovery of the actor Seo In-guk."
Jung So-min described her character, "She is a character who is persistent and self-centered but sometimes soft and cool and does her job well," adding, "She played an intense action that she has never done before."
"Project Wolf Hunting" is invited to the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada. The festival will open on September 8, and the film will be screened as a world premiere. It will also be presented at the L'Etrange International Film Festival held in France, the Fantastic Fest in the U.S., and the San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival in Spain.
