'Suwon Cultural Heritage Night Tour' to kick off on August 12 until August 14

SEOUL, August 10 (Yonhap) -- “Suwon Cultural Heritage Night Tour” will take place in Temporary Palace at Hwaseong Fortress, Suwon. Starting on August 12 to August 14, announced Suwon city government on Wednesday.


6th of its kind the night tour through Suwon cultural heritage spots began in 2017. It is one of Cultural Heritage Administration’s night tour programs allowing visitors to take in and enjoy the scenery and experience the cultural heritage spots of Hwaseong Fortress, Suwon throughout at night.

The program will consist of 8 different themes “Night View,” “Night Walk,” “Unofficial History,” ”Book About Night Chat,” “Rumors,” “Night Market” “Late Night Food” and “Camping Outside.”

Participants will be able see the views of “Temporary Palace at Hwaseong Fortress, Suwon”, “Suwon Hwaseong Museum”, “Suwon Museum of Art” “Bugukwon” “Catholic church of Buksu dong,” and more at night.

With the theme of “Memory” programs where participants will be able to understand the history and lives of those who live in Temporary Palace at Hwaseong Fortress, Suwon and around.

In order to prevent the wide spread of COVID-19 Cultural Heritage Night Tour was held in a walk through event instead of hands on event in 2020 and 2021. However in 2021, hands on experience section and face to face events planned for the “Suwon Cultural Heritage Night Tour.”

Throughout the event, participants will be enjoy outdoor music performances, historical plays, talk shows, exhibitions, markets, martial arts performances and more.

Moreover, cafés, restaurants and shops around Haenggung-dong will provide visitors with late night snacks during the Night Tour events.

Roads around Haenggung-dong, craft shop street, and more will be restricted throughout the event starting at 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.
